RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT
The Research and Development (R&D) division is one of the essential supporting units at BBS. With its main objective of improving the quality and quantity of the school’s research profile, particularly in applied management research, this division comprises of three core units: Research, Learning & Development, and the BINUS Case Center. These three units support the teaching and learning experience offered at BBS by enriching faculties’ repertoire in applied researches, case study development for in-class materials as well as quality assurance of BBS academic quality. In summary, BBS students are assured to get the maximum learning experience in order to gain the utmost value for their education.
Research
BBS faculties have extensive research capabilities in the following areas, but not limited to:
- Innovation,
- Corporate Governance,
- Valuation,
- Strategy Execution,
- Supply Chain Management and
- Consumer Behavior.
Being the drivers for new research directions, BBS faculties regularly participate in international research conferences and projects. These same research outcomes become valuable source of knowledge for students in understanding the application of global essentials to local context.
In addition, the department provides a Research Clinic for senior students on the thesis writing stage to assists them with research methodology, survey questionnaire design, and with data analysis using statistical software.
Learning & Development
In the pursuit of assuring the high academic standard of both BBS’s teaching and learning activities, BBS faculties are routinely given refreshment workshops on latest updates of the following, but not limited to:
- Effective teaching & learning,
- Effective classroom management,
- Reinforcing effective language in the classroom, and
- Assessment development.
BBS not only applies competency-based curricula endorsed by the Indonesian government but also benchmarks its curricula to follow renowned overseas universities as well as the local industry practitioners.
BINUS Case Center
BBS understands the importance of bridging theories with real life business and thus has established the BBS Case Center with the objective of encouraging faculties to produce real Case Studies as a tool to enriching students’ understanding on how to apply theories learned in class into their working place.
BBS Case Center has developed strategic partnerships with renowned companies in Indonesia such as Astra Group, Blue Bird, Martha Tilaar, Yamaha Indonesia, Indocement, BCA, etc. and has proudly produced over 100 local case studies from various industries that was compiled in a Best Seller book titled: “Indonesian Business Cases: From Innovation to Financial Excellence”.
These cases are being used as classroom materials for students’ discussion in order to promote students’ critical thinking process. These case studies are not only being used by BBS students but they are also being used by other prominent local universities as well as international institutions such the National University of Singapore (NUS) and UNDP.
